This workshop will explore the local environment around Chisenhale Studios and help to maintain the Hertford Union Canal and Regents Canal, by doing a litter pick along the canal-towpath. As we litter pick, we will become familiar with the diverse urban environment where nature and man made meet around the water. After spending about an hour litter picking we will move into the education space at Chisenhale Studios where, with guidance from artist in residence Camilla Brendon we make canal mobile art that reflects the unique local area, with the option to include living plants.
There will be cleaning stations at Chisenhale, so it will be possible to use litter that you have collected in your mobile. There will also be materials provided by the artist. When you have finished creating you will be invited to leave the work for Camilla to include in her living installation that will be open to the public at the end of her residency.
This workshops is being supported by Lower Regents Coalition a Thames 21 badged group. They will supply all the equipment needed, but it is important for all participants to wear practical clothing and no sandals.
